Potential (Colorful)

First thing’s first: Thank you to Loghry Photography and Kelley Alba for a successful shoot ovee the weekend!
I love using stock model photos and/or art for my blog themes, but I am also working on branding. Because who doesn’t need to see my gorgeous mug?! Hm?!
If you are in the San Antonio/Austin/Dallas/Houston areas (I love roadtrips), contact me to collabo. If you don’t, you suck, and who needs you anyway?! 😉

Also, be on the lookout possibly tomorrow evening (depending on my STOOOOOOOPID school/work schedule — because I have a life) for a brand new feature: locally (Texas) based artists profiles.
The first artist I’m featuring is a handsome dude I went to high school with. I mean, who knew anyone else in my high school (besides me, duh!) was cool enough to become Someone? (haha)

NOW! For Monday. Monday, friggin’ Monday. UGH. (I don’t care if it’s near the end of the day, it still counts!)
The only thing that will get me through this week is a kick-ass playlist, and there are dope new tracks for you to discover. Listen, love, share — Be Converted.

Tennis – “I’m Callin'”
Husband and wife duo Tennis has been doing their thang for several years now, and their sound is decidedly retro with a serious twist of badass. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Alaina Moore’s airy voice. She’s a force to be reckoned with, but she’s so subtle! Their new album, Ritual In Repeat, drops TOMORROW, 9 Sept 2014. I’m contemplating working this album up, ’cause it’s gonna be a Monster.

Alvvays – “Archie, Marry Me”
This band is going to spur an explosion of dating sites dedicated exclusively to single ladies everywhere finding their own man named “Archie”. Seriously. I can’t get this shizz out of my head! And I’m not complaining! These vocals are SO spot on. Mastery is expertly old school without falling flat. I love a killer guitar solo that doesn’t overpower the whole concept. Flawless. Catch their first full-length release out now on iTunes.

ZHU – “Paradise Awaits.”
You have no idea. NO EFFING IDEA. This is EVERYTHING. ZHU has only been active as a producer since the BEGINNING OF 2014. If he keeps churning out this quality sikness, this kid is going places. Might overtake Pharrell. And I’m not exaggerating. Jump on this bandwagon NOW. EP The Nightday is out now on iTunes.

The Knocks – “Classic (ft. Powers)”
This reminds me a bit of some Miami Horror “Sometimes” mixed with something like MNDR or MS MR. Serious commercial appeal. Check their Comfortable EP out now.

Movement – “Like Lust”
Babymaking music. If you want one of those, anyway. #useprotection Their self-titled EP kills. Go get it.

Jagwar Ma – “Uncertainty (Cut Copy remix)”
Jagwar Ma kicks ass. Cut Copy is a force to be reckoned with. The two combined = aural porn. You’re welcome.

Chrome Sparks – “The Meaning of Love”
This track is deceptive. Starts out sweet, and gives way to some seriously dope chillwave shit. Their aptly named Goddess EP is out now… any Goddess (or Maven) in need of a slow motion entrance need not look any further than Chrome Sparks.

Lykke Li – “No Rest for the Wicked (ft. A$AP Rocky)”
I started a love affair with Swedish Lykke Li sometime around 5 years ago with THIS song. She’s gone from meek indie sweetheart to savvy indie veteran. Props to A$AP Rocky on his intelligent flow.

Le Sera – “Losing to the Dark”
I am in love with some kick-ass lady rock. More needs to be made. Catchy, catchy, catchy. And you can DOWNLOAD! Take advantage!

Julian Casablancas – “Human Sadness”
This has now been released under Julian Casablancas + The Voidz, the handsome model’s new side project. I don’t think I need to say much more… it’s Julian Casablancas.

Flying Lotus – “Never Catch Me (ft. Kendrick Lamar)”
This collabo makes me RIDICULOUSLY happy. Kendrick Lamar lends just enough starpower to this power pairing to help catapult Flying Lotus (and his production quality) to the forefront of hip hop and experimental music. LOVE love.

Stromae – “Papaoutai (ft. Angel Haze)
The Americanized version of French song outlining a boy’s strained relationship with his absent father. A friend introduced me to the original version a couple weeks ago, and I have to admit, it’s freakin’ catchy!

Steve Aoki, Chris Lake, & Tujamo – “Delirious (Boneless) (ft. Kid Ink)”
You wanna talk about a PROJECT? Woooo! Steve Aoki really isn’t underground these days, and didn’t stay underground very long at all. Can’t knock a dude for being good at what he does! If you haven’t already picked up Neon Future 1, released 12 Aug 2014, now may be the time.

Echosmith – “Cool Kids”
I’ve heard this track on and off for months, and it sort of flew under the radar, until tonight when I thought, “This is quality!” So I added it. And you’re gonna like it.

TV On the Radio – “Happy Idiot”
This single dropped 1 Sept 2014, and it’s quickly become a favorite. I love TVOTR; their sound is extremely mature, but still fresh. They have a clear direction. New album Seeds is anticipated to debut 18 Nov 2014.
I tried SO DAMN HARD to get this effing YouTube video to post for y’all, but WordPress can SUCK IT, because NO videos have been working as of late! I left the code in this post JUST in case it magically decides to be cool. Otherwise… Watch it HERE.

Have a great week, kids!
