Songs that I can’t seem to stop playing atm. Mind-bending musical gems. Find a new fave.
I discovered this song, kid you not, last night, and I’ve played it for a solid 24 hours. Er… perhaps that’s a bit hyperbolic, but it’s so catchy, I can’t stop! This is a reimagination of Tove Lo’s “Habits” which is a bit too pop-ish for my taste. While the original is decent, this one is simpler lyrically and the beats are smoother.
I’ve never been a huge fan of Lady Gaga, but I see where she’s coming from. She’s artsy, we get it. Purity Ring, on the other hand, I respect GREATLY. I was skeptical when they reworked this song of LG’s, because I immediately thought “don’t you dare sell out!”… and then quickly changed my tune when I heard how brilliantly they took the original and made something I can really get into.
More Purity Ring for you. I was heartbroken when I had to make the choice between them and Depeche Mode at ACL this year, and then half of what I was able to watch was sabotaged by the rain and electricity… a legend vs. legends-in-the-making? Had to choose the legends… since… well… they might not be around forever? they’re legends? ANYWHO — the entire Shrines album is golden. Go get it on iTunes and give them some money. Money well spent. Boom.
You’re gonna want to cruise with the windows down on this track. Dark, sexy, synthy, driving beat… Just don’t watch the music video, if you know what’s good for you.
A little NBHD-esque, no? Love it. This song is so much fun. I hope you find your dream, friends.
Welcome to Sleigh Bells, bitches! OHMAN. I can’t get over this! You ever wanna see a spectacle, pull up next to me at a stoplight while I’m blasting this, windows down, singing along, dancing in my driver’s seat. 😉 Don’t you feel empowered to slap on some boxing gloves and punch out your mortal enemy?!
The scream sound clip is priceless. This is perfect for a Halloween party, hey, hey? Fresh, young, a little wanksta… have fun! And send me an invite!
AAAAAAAAAAAAND last but not least: here’s a big “F— –U” to the Arcade Fire, who seem to think calling themselves The Reflektors will attract new interest to their sellout gimmick. I so LOVED that they had Bowie in on the act, and then they go and change their name. Guess what? Mr. Little Jeans did your Suburbs better justice than you. Jerkfaces.
